The four-piece glass series for the Absolut
Vodka brand was one of the design creations which against international competition
for an iF design award at cebit 2002 in Hannover, received one of the much
sought-after Quality Seals bearing the same name. The object of the design-prize
competition, this year with a new structure, is to assess the development by enterprises,
of products fulfilling brand-specific, user-oriented and environment-friendly design
criteria.
In the category Product Design one of six disciplines,
the Absolut Vodka Glasses created by Rastal designer Carsten Kehrein
convincingly impressed the jury with their straight, clear and brand-oriented message.
This is expressed in unique design elements, the unusual combination of glass and
integrated coloured plastic as well as the clear and functional lines of the design.
The Absolut Vodka series thus possesses different colour
elements (blobs) moulded into the base, setting distinct accents. Each colour
represents a particular flavour, which in its turn is matched by the colour concept of the
Absolut bottle: yellow for Citron, orange for
Mandarin, violet for Kurant and blue for Absolut pur.
