| The best way to
care for but also spare the glass and decor is to
wash them by hand. Glasses should
always be washed in warm water with as little detergent as possible,
and then rinsed out in clear, clean water. Thin
or thin-stemmed glassware demands special care, also when being
towel-dried.
The glasses and decors made to meet today´s high quality standards for
utility glassware are, as a rule,
dishwasher-safe. However, the rules for household dishwashers are
quite different from those applied to the
specialized glass-washing machinery used in catering establishments.
 |
For such commercial
dishwashing machines , the following rules apply: The wash
temperature should be 55°C (approx. 145°F), water pressure 0.4 bar,
wash-cycle duration a maximum of 150 seconds. It is advisable to use the
manufacturer recommended detergents and rinses and observe their dosage
instructions. After the rinse cycle, the machine should be opened at once.
The glasses should cool off a bit before cold beverages are poured into
them. Glasses should never be washed together with flatware, tableware or
pots and pans!
In household dishwashers,
glassware should be cleaned in the most careful cycle available on the
machine. This means that the temperature should be as low as possible and
the cycle time as short as possible. To prevent spots and crusty residues,
it is important to observe the dosing instructions for detergent and rinse
very carefully. After the rinse cycle, the machine should be opened so
that the glasses are not exposed unnecessarily long to the hot steam,
and cool properly.
